伊拉克首个！巴格达垃圾焚烧发电项目奠基，康恒环境助力绿色“一带一路”

On March 20, 2025, the groundbreaking ceremony for Iraq's first waste-to-energy project was successfully concluded in Baghdad. Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani launched the construction ceremony. 

The local officials, including Haider Mohammed Makkiya, Chairman of the National Investment Commission, Ziyad Ali Fadel, Minister of Electricity, Abdul Alawi, Governor of Baghdad and Ammar Mosa , Mayors of Baghdad as well as Eric Zhan, CEO of SUS INTERNATIONAL, and other representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises in Iraq, attended the project site.

The Prime Minister congratulated the start of the implementation of the waste-to- energy project, which is part of the government's plans to transition to clean and renewable energy. 

他强调，今天标志着废物处理新时代的开始，该处理模式是该地区最现代化的，与伊拉克应对气候变化和环境污染的方法一致。未来该项目将作为范例在其他省份推广，以解决全国长期以来面临的垃圾处理难题，推动伊拉克在可持续发展道路上迈出坚实一步。

He pointed out that "today marks the beginning of a new era in waste treatment according to a model that is the most modern in the region and is consistent with our approach to confronting climate change and environmental pollution. In the future, this project will serve as a model to be promoted in other provinces to address the long-standing waste management challenges across the nation, propelling Iraq to take a firm step forward on the path of sustainable development. "

Eric Zhan, CEO of SUS INTERNATIONAL, delivered the speech. 

He stated that "SUS ENVIRONMENT will leverage the advanced technology and rich experience to shape the project as a pioneering model. We will join hands with all parties to work together on solving waste issues and contributing to environment conservation in Iraq. "

据悉，巴格达垃圾焚烧发电项目位于伊拉克首都巴格达，设计规模为3000吨/日，配置3条处理规模1000吨/日焚烧线，配备1台100MW汽轮发电机组，总投资额约5亿美元。项目投产后，将为1000万人口提供固废处置与环境综合服务，年绿色发电7.8亿千瓦时，项目的建设运行可为当地创造约500个就业机会。

The waste-to-energy project is located in Baghdad, the Iraqi capital. The project has a designed capacity of 3,000 tons per day, with 3 incineration lines, and is equipped with a 100MW steam turbine generator set. The total investment of the project is approximately 500 million USD. It will generate 780 million kWh of green electricity annually, which can meet 10 million people’s electricity demand. It will also create approximately 500 local job opportunities.
